Description
Tyler, The Creator took a more personal approach with Flower Boy compared to his last albums. The Flower Boy vinyl is an impressive move by Tyler, but not far from sensational. Critics gave this album a 7.9/10; We believe that this is just too low. Flower Boy does sound different… for all the right reasons. Appearances from Frank Ocean and Rex Orange County are unlike guests he has had in his past work. However, the old Tyler sure does come out in songs like Who Dat Boy (feat. A$AP Rocky), and I Ain’t Got Time.
Tyler actually had some trouble with the features on Flower Boy. See You Again was originally written for former One Direction singer, Zayn Malik. However, he rejected the song twice. Glitter was written for Justin Bieber, and he never returned any of Tyler’s calls. Finally, Who Dat Boy was rejected by Schoolboy Q. Themes of loneliness, love, and determination are persistent throughout the Flower Boy vinyl. These introspections from the artist’s standpoint provide a “pleasant” personality throughout the project. His last few albums have been deemed “tormented and twisted” by critics. Most of them are saying that Flower Boy presents a surprisingly sensitive, thoughtful, and even pleasant mood. Now all you have to do is listen to the Flower Boy vinyl to see for yourself.
