Igor is the fifth studio album by American rapper and producer Tyler, the Creator. It was released on May 17, 2019, through Columbia Records. Igor continues to build on the hip-hop and neo-soul sound established in Flower Boy, while also incorporating R&B and funk influences. The IGOR vinyl follows the narrative of a love triangle where Tyler is in love with a man, but the girl he’s with is pulling Tyler further away. The character “Igor” is mentioned a few times within the album. Tyler is creating this Igor character, a villain’s assistant who has a darker side because of his complex situation.

The album was first announced on May 6th, 2019 via Tyler, The Creator on Instagram. He began working on the album in 2018, initially writing a few of IGOR’s songs for other artists. For example, EARFQUAKE was written for Justin Beiber and Rihanna. However, when they both turned it down, Tyler made it his biggest song. He had originally produced GONE, GONE back in 2013 while on tour. But because he felt as if the beat didn’t fit the vibe of Flower Boy or Cherry Bomb, he put it on IGOR.
